The Northern League won the 2023 KBO Futures All-Star Game.
The Northern League (Hanwha, LG, Goyang, SSG, and Doosan) defeated the Southern League (Sangsung, NC, Samsung, Lotte, KT, and KIA) 9-7 in the Futures All-Star Game at Sajik Stadium in Busan on Thursday.
The Futures All-Star Game featured a total of 48 players, 24 from the Northern League and 24 from the Southern League.
Kim Bum-seok (LG), the designated hitter for the Northern League, went 2-for-4 with a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, a three-run shot, four RBIs, and one run scored.
Kim was also honored with the MVP award. His prize was 2 million won. This is LG’s second Futures All-Star Game MVP after Kim Nam-seok in 2011.

Kim lined a 143-kilometer-per-hour fastball from Han Jae-seung into the left-center field arch. The fastball traveled 170 kilometers and had a distance of 128.3 meters.
However, the Nambu League tied the game in the seventh inning with a long-hitting show. After scoring a run on Kim Byung-joon’s triple and Cho Min-sung’s double, the Southern League tied the game at 7-7 on Kim Sun-woo’s (KIA) double and Koo Bon-hyuk’s (Sangsung) two-run homer.
The Northern League regained the lead through the efforts of fixer Kim Bum-seok.
In the seventh inning, the Northern League made it 8-7 with a double by Lee Ju-hyung (LG) and a single by Kim Gun-geon (SSG). After a stolen base by Kim Gun-i, Kim Bum-seok’s RBI single made it 9-7.
The Northern League brought in SSG’s Sang-jun Seo to close out the game in the ninth inning. Seo pitched one scoreless inning to earn the save.
