Samsung Lions manager Park Jin-man is all smiles in victory.
The Samsung Lions cruised to a 12-2 victory over the KIA Tigers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on April 18. With their second straight win, Samsung improved their season record to 44 wins, 1 draw, and 59 losses. They also improved to 3-8 against KIA.
Starting pitcher Taylor Widener was the star of the show. He went six innings, allowing five hits, no walks, and striking out seven. The right-hander pitched a quality start (six innings of three earned runs or less).
Widener, who joined Samsung as a replacement foreign pitcher for the injured Albert Suarez, picked up his first win since joining the organization.
After the game, manager Park Jin-man said, “Widener pitched a perfect game and protected the mound. Congratulations on your first win at Samsung,” and applauded Widener.
Koo Ja-rook, who has been hitting well lately, also contributed to the victory by activating the home run gun. He hit a solo shot off Yoon Young-chul in the fourth inning and finished the day with four hits, two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Led by Koo, Samsung’s bats pounded out 19 hits in the game to demolish the KIA mound.
Park gave a thumbs-up to Koo, saying, “He opened up the 카지노사이트 batting lineup with his home run.” He was also pleased that “the other batters showed great concentration.”
“It was the most relaxed game we’ve played in a long time,” Park said.
