Kim Eun-joong, former head coach of the South Korea Under-20 Football Team, has been named an ambassador for the 텍사스홀덤 Seoul EOU Cup U-18 International Youth Tournament 2023.

The Seoul EOU Cup Organizing Committee held a ceremony on Wednesday at the Seoul Football Association’s conference room on the first floor of Hyochang Stadium in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. In addition to Kim, the ceremony was attended by Sung Jung-ki, president of the Seoul Football Association, Yoon Ki-young, president of the Korea Sports Agent Association, and Kim Seok-hyun, senior vice president of the Seoul Football Association.

The 2023 Seoul EOU Cup U-18 International Youth Competition will be held at Mokdong Sports Complex next month on the 10th, 12th and 15th, with Korea, Ukraine, Vietnam and Morocco competing for the title in a full league format. Ticket links for the 2023 Seoul EOU Cup are available on Interpark and will open on June 26.

Kim proved his coaching prowess at the 24th FIFA U-20 World Cup in June, when the team reached the quarterfinals. After retiring as a leading K League goalie, Kim began his coaching career at AFC Thunbiz in Belgium, where he served as head coach of the South Korean U-23 team, before taking over as head coach of the U-20 team in 2022.

“It is an honor to serve as an ambassador for a tournament with such a good cause,” said Kim. “The tournament, which means ‘Earth On Us,’ will promote the importance of a sustainable planet through soccer. We hope that the participation of the war-torn Ukraine and the earthquake-affected Morocco will send a message of peace and environmental preservation.”

“The importance of age-based national teams is growing day by day, and it would be great to see athletes develop their skills through these various international competitions. We will continue to promote various competitions so that the meaning of EOU can be conveyed to many people.”
