‘North London Derby first’ SON says “it’s not my goal, it’s the team’s goal

SON, the ‘North London Derby first’, asserts that the goal is not his own, but rather the team’s goal.

Son Heung-min scored a brace to lead Tottenham to a 2-2 draw away to Arsenal in the sixth round of the 2023-2024 Premier League at the Emirates Stadium in London, England, on Thursday (Sept. 24).

The draw extended Tottenham’s unbeaten run to six games (four wins, two draws) to open the season.

After opening the season with a hat-trick against Burnley in Round 4, Son was silent in Round 5 against Sheffield Wednesday, but proved himself worthy of the Tottenham captaincy by scoring two goals in the ‘North London Derby’ against Arsenal.

The multi-goal performance took Son’s tally to 199 goals in Europe, just one shy of the 200 mark.

In addition, Son has now scored seven goals (six in the league and one in the cup) in 19 career games against Arsenal (17 in the league and two in the cup), cementing his status as an Arsenal killer.

Son was named to the BBC’s Best 11 for the sixth round of the Premier League.

“Tottenham put in an impressive performance against their North London rivals,” said Garth Crooks, who selected the BBC’s Best 11, “Spurs were denied a shock penalty and fell behind twice at Arsenal. But Son Heung-min led a Spurs side that needed a strong showing.”

With his goal, Son became the first Tottenham player in the history of the North London derby to score multiple goals against Arsenal. Neither Harry Kane (15 goals) nor Emmanuel Adebayor (8 goals), the all-time North London Derby top scorer, have ever scored multiple goals against Arsenal for Spurs.

Despite his record-breaking tally, Son remained humble in the team interview. “I’m sorry that every time I score a goal, I’m the center of attention,” he said of his goal, adding, “It wasn’t me, it was the whole team. I was just the last one to get the touch.”

Son Heung-min, who emphasized ‘one team’ by giving credit to the team, said, “It was not my goal, but the team’s goal,” and added, “Our team’s offensive development was very good. I’m very proud of my teammates,” he said, adding, 먹튀검증 “We will prepare well and do better in our upcoming home games.”
