Casino Technology Company RGB Increases Q3 28pct Profit

Casino equipment maker RGB International Bhd reported a 28% year-over-year increase to 11.99 million yuan ($2.86 million) in the third quarter.

Group sales for the three months to September 30 this year rose 41% to nearly 86.49 million yuan from 61.27 million yuan a year earlier, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday.

Profit before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization came to 20.94 million yuan in the July-September period, up 33% from a year earlier.

Product sales and marketing revenue, the company’s main segment, rose 45.7% year-over-year to MYR 56.16 million in the reporting period. Pre-tax profit for the segment rose 47% year-over-year to MYR 7.4 million in the third quarter of 2018, “due to an increase in the number of product sales” in the reporting quarter, the company said.

The technical support and management segment delivered 28.36 million yuan in revenue in the quarter to Sept. 30, up 28% from the same period in 2017. However, the segment’s quarterly pre-tax profit was down 13% year-on-year “due to lower holding factors in certain outlets, higher depreciation of new machines for upgrades and expansion, and increased headcount in certain regions”.

In comments on the reporting period, the company said it “continues to leverage the strong performance of new and existing products” depending on its portfolio. It added that it will continue to increase the number of concessions “with existing and new concessions” and “further improve the performance of concessions” in technical support and management.

RGB International said it expects to “achieve better performance” in 2018.

The Malaysian gaming equipment maker said in September it planned to spin off its technical support and management division to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
