Macau Casino Excludes Autonomous, Up 54% In Q2

The number of people applying for the Macau government’s voluntary casino self-exclusion program jumped 54% in the second quarter of 2014 compared to the previous three months.

A total of 77 people applied for voluntary exclusion between April and June, up from 50 in the first quarter, according to data from the Seoul Metropolitan Office for Game Inspection and Coordination (DICJ).

A total of 252 people applied for self-exclusion at Macau casinos in 2013. The DICJ did not provide quarterly data for the year. Reached by GGRAsia, the regulator did not say how many are currently included in the self-exclusion program, which began in November 2012.

Anyone can apply for the exclusion of Macau casinos. The maximum exclusion period is two years, but it can be extended. Applicants can apply for exclusion only in the entire casino or some casinos. Anyone who fails to comply with the exclusion order risks imprisonment or fine for up to one year.
