The opening of the newly built Hotel Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach (pictured) on the site of the Grand Ho Tram Streep Casino in Vietnam has now been postponed to a “tentative” date of July 16, the complex operator told GGRAsia.

The holiday-in-branded 502-room new accommodation, owned by InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG), was previously scheduled to open in “end-June.” The new timing is due to “the COVID-19 situation in Vietnam,” the operator of Grand Ho Tram Streep said, without elaborating further.
Over the past week, more than “3,000” new cases of COVID-19 have been added across the country, state media Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday. Most have been detected in Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city closest to the Grand Ho tram strip. The state news agency said the national transport ministry had already approved a proposal to suspend scheduled flights between Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Sonnath airport and several cities in the country.
The Grand Hotram Streep, located off the coast of Vietnam in southeastern Ho Chi Minh City, was developed by Hotram Project Limited. The complex has a casino open to foreigners only.
InterContinental Hotels Group, owner of InterContinental and Hilton Marks, announced in 2019 that it was bringing two of its hotel brands to the Grand Ho Tram Strip. One of those brands was the Holiday Inn, and the other was to rebrand the existing Grand Ho Tram Hotel as the “InterContinental Grand Ho Tram,” according to an IHG release at the time.
The operator of the Grand Ho Tram Streep confirmed that the complex’s flagship building, the Grand Ho Tram Hotel, had already been rebranded as InterContinental Grand Ho Tram in mid-June.
