Former national fencer Nam Hyun-hee has filed for a review of her expulsion from the Seoul Fencing Association, claiming that it was unfair.
According to Daily Sports on the 28th, an official from the Seoul Sports Association said, “Nam Hyun-hee submitted an application for reconsideration on the 25th, and we received it the next day.” According to the rules, a meeting must be held within 60 days from the date the application for reconsideration is received to decide on discipline.
Nam was suspended by the Seoul Fencing Association on Nov. 19 for failing to report human rights violations. The deadline for filing a request for reconsideration was May 25, within seven days of being notified of the discipline.
Nam is accused of failing to report sexual violence committed by the head coach of her fencing academy against underage students. He was also accused of engaging in defamation of the victims by not restraining his business partner and remarried partner Jeon Cheong-jo from making inappropriate comments about the victims to parents.
The fencing federation said that “due to the gravity of the case, we do not apply a reduction in disciplinary action,” and that according to its disciplinary standards, the highest level of discipline, expulsion, was imposed for “causing social harm and damaging the dignity of athletes.
However, the disciplinary action will be suspended as Nam requests a review. The final discipline will be finalized if the Seoul Sports Council makes a decision within 60 days.
“If the Seoul Fencing Association was the first referee, the Seoul Sports Council, a higher-level organization, is the final second referee,” the official explained to Daily Sports.
Nam is still running his fencing academy and teaching classes. He shares many daily moments with the children he coaches on Instagram. 바카라사이트 추천
