A company that said it planned to open a Pachinko laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah, in July announced on Tuesday that it had asked its software provider to build digital Pachinko games for smartphones and tablets.
CMK Gaming International Inc (CMKI) is working with Route 1 Games, a UK-based game development and publisher.
According to a May filing by CMKI with OTC Markets, a New York-based OTC stock exchange, CMKI recently purchased a 100% stake in a Nevada corporation called CMK Nevada, which “owns and operates three retail game centers commonly referred to as ‘Pachinko Parr’ in Japan.”
CMKI’s digital game players have the opportunity to earn points and rewards to make up at its Pachinko store, which is under development in Salt Lake City and is scheduled to open this year, the company said in a statement.
Shana Weiner, described as CMKI’s CEO, said in a recent announcement: “…We hope this mobile app will give customers a taste of what’s there when we open our Pachinko store in Salt Lake City.”
CMKI believes its mobile games will lead customers to its planned U.S. offices and help introduce players to some of the modern versions of Pachinko available in Japan.
The company aims to own and operate pachinko sales sites “all over the United States,” according to a statement on Tuesday.
In Japan, Pachinko (pictured), a game in which players pay upfront for steel balls placed in pinball-style upright cabinets and recover the winning ball as a prize, is designated as speculative entertainment rather than gambling.
