Vietnam’s finance ministry has proposed “regular checks” on its casinos, citing locations across seven provinces and cities, local media VnExpress reported, citing a government announcement.

The report did not comment on the scope of such inspection work. However, VnExpress noted that the ministry recently found cases of “multiple casinos” serving “unauthorized customers” and offered “unacceptable services”.

The inspection includes three major casino divisions in China: Phu Quoc Island in Kienjiang Province, Hoi An in Quang Nam Province, and Hotram in Barya in Vung Tau Province.

According to the report, the survey also includes six “small casinos” including Haiphong, Quang Ninh, Laoqai and Da Nang.

Phu Quoc Island hosts Covid resorts and casinos, the country’s first and so far only casino properties allowed economically qualified locals to gamble.

Hoian hosts Hoiana Resort & Golf, a beachfront complex with foreigner-only casinos. Bar Ria is the location of The Grand Ho Tram Stripe, another beachfront resort that includes a foreigner-only casino.
